A match keenly anticipated as this was the first time we had most of our players available. The pitch was excellent but the referee was kind of unfriendly. We had an excellent first half. Our centre midfield trio of Henry, Yiyang and Yaoyang dominated and that allowed us to control the game. Our first goal came courtesy of our winger, Bernard who just returned from the States. An overhit cross by Kelvin C was kept in play by Kelvin K, he played the ball back to the in-rushing Bernard who took a couple of touches before unleashing a thunderous strike into the roof of the net.

The second goal came as Yaoyang timed his run to beat the opponents' offside trap. As our opponents were screaming offside, he took the ball to the touch line and squared it back to Kelvin K who gladly slotted the ball into the goal for his 4th goal in 3 matches. Yiyang then had a glorious opportunity with a one-on-one with the keeper but the keeper stole the ball from his feet. Clearly not discouraged, Yiyang was presented with a similar one-on-one situation with the keeper again, and this time he did not disappoint. He rounded the keeper coolly and scored.

By half-time, we were 3-0 up and overwhelmingly in control of the game. There were talks of a thrashing and the team even had the audacity to take a team photo during half-time - as if to celebrate a easy win. Well, we all know what happened in the 2nd half. Our opponents, probably angered by our nonchalance towards them, came out stronger in the 2nd half. We lost the midfield battle for periods of the half and gave away a free kick just outside the box. Our opponents expertly curled the ball into the top corner of the goal.

Having got a goal back, the White Monkeys seemed to have some of their pride restored and continued to cause our midfield and defense problems. In a scramble between a couple of our defenders and their striker, a goal resulted. The score was 3-2 now and our opponents clearly felt they could equalise. However, our team started to play tighter to play out for the win. We were even awarded a penalty in a fast counter-attack as Shawn was brought down in the box. However, Yiyang failed to convert. Nevertheless, we managed to contain our opponents for the remaining periods of the match and deservedly won the match.
