Team Prodigy manager Kelvin Chua yesterday named his midfield maestro Yiyang as the man to lead his team in the up-coming season. There were a few candidates in Chua's mind but given Yiyang's consistent performances during the pre-season plus his commitment to the team, he finally emerged as the chosen one to lead the team out come January 27th.
Chua said: "Obviously, it is not a difficult choice as Yiyang has the experience of playing for many winning clubs and also the respect of his teammates. His uncanny ability to read games on the pitch and leadership qualities definitely make him an ideal captain. I am confident that he can bring the best out of the team in every single match."
Yiyang could not be contacted for comment during press time. However, it is believed that the news of Yiyang's appointment is well received by his fellow players.
Defender Weiyi said: "It is great news that he is appointed Captain as I believe that he has the experience and acumen to guide and rally the players both on and off the pitch."
The news will certainly come as a devastation to right midfielder Ken, who until a few weeks ago, was a prime candidate for the captaincy until his misdemeanors at the New Year drinking party was publicly condemned by Chua.
