Match Report: 13th Jan, Against Team H

Final Score - Team Prodigy 3 Team H 2
Scorers - Bernard, Ken, Ching Weng
Line-up - Jiahui, Shawn, Bahrin, Kelvin C, Ching Weng, Henry, Long Kun, Kun, Bernard, Ken, Kelvin K, Hanwei, Wenjing, Kevin, Weiyi.

The match saw the return of our midfield anchor, Long Kun, who was officially handed the 14 shirt from Ching Weng, the transfer agent who negotiated his return. Hopefully we will see more of him in the upcoming season. We were a little apprehensive before this match as the opponents came with a big reputation. However, as soon as the match kicked off, we played the ball around very well. Credit to our centre midfielders as we controlled this key area for much of the first half. Our first goal came via some good pressuring from our attackers. This forced their defender to a make a bad long pass across their own box which was intercepted by Bernard who slotted the ball home.

Our second goal came in the 2nd half courtesy of a sweet through pass from Kun that cut TH's defense like hot knife through butter. A well-timed run from Ken and he was one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he made no mistake, putting the ball into the goal on the far side. We were 2-0 up and this sort of fired up TH. Even though their centre mid did not fare too well, there is no doubt about the quality on their flanks. They had some good passing down the flanks and also whipped in a couple of great crosses. Eventually they got a goal and was further awarded a soft penalty which they converted.

The score was now 2-2 and it was anybody's game. With 5 minutes left, Ching Weng found himself marauding down the left flank and causing havoc. In the midst of the chaos, their goalkeeper came for the ball and failed to secure it. The ball deflected about and fell for Ching Weng with a gaping open goal. He despatched the ball into the net with aplomb and the stadium exploded. In the final minutes, we should have had a penalty as Bernard was brought down in the box. Ref thought it was just outside though. Time soon ran out and we were all very happy with the win. Well done guys!

Kudos to TH too, definitely the best opponents we have faced so far. Probably missing a couple of players and still gave us a good game.
