Prodigy faces fight for 2nd place

Some say 1 week is a long time in football. The past month would have seem like an eternity for Prodigy as they only managed 1 win out of 4 games which coincided with British Hornets 4 wins run. This has left both teams equal in points in the div 8 table and fighting for the 2nd automatic promotion spot behind Leader Benedetto who currently has a unassailable 5 points lead.

How lady luck has changed so dramatically in football after Prodigy stunned even themselves with 4 consecutive victories at the start of the season which had pundits praising their attacking one touch play. It all deteriorated after the vital 1-3 defeat to Benedetto and since then, the team has started to leak goals which have cost them results recently. They have conceded 8 goals in 4 games compared to only 2 goals in the opening 4 games. Noteworthly, the team has lost crucial players during this period, namely Longkun and Shawn who would have add more tenacity and guile to stop the rot.

What Prodigy has to do now is to stand up to be counted, then tighten up at the back and keep clean sheets. This is not only the defenders' job but the whole team as a whole, from the strikers pressing at the front to the midfielders not giving anything away and keeping possession of the ball. As quoted by a famous personality in football: " To win a football match, first we must not concede, secondly we must make fewer mistakes than our opponents."

Ominously, Prodigy can reflect back on last season when they embarked on a winning run towards the end of the season to clinch 3rd place after a disastrous mid season run which mirrored the current one.

There are still important games ahead and starting this Sunday, Prodigy must find back their confidence and form as the race for promotion get intensive. Would Prodigy live up to the challange? Catch them in action this Sunday to find out the answer. Afterall, football is a funny old game and anything can happen.
