After two consecutive defeats since the opening of the season, Team Prodigy has been brought back down to earth and early season hopes of promotion are diminishing. Manager Chua is under pressure to deliver results for the next few matches as the board of directors are said to be unimpressed after committing a significant amount of fund for Chua to spend to improve the team in the pre-season. Despite encouraging performances against Cairnhill FC and the Legends FC, the team has not emulated their pre-season scoring streak and there is a lack of goals about the team.
An optimistic Chua rallies: " If we can play like how we played in the 2nd half against the Legends FC for the next few matches, I am sure the goals and results will come sooner rather than later."
He hints: " I would be bringing in some attacking players over the next few weeks to try out as Kelvin Kuek would be unavailabe for 1 month at least due to the Asian Accountants Cup in China in late Feb."
It is rumoured that Chua has failed to instill discipline in the dressing room as puntuality again has been compromised and the players started the Legends match without proper warm-ups. However, several members of the team have stood out and show support for their manager.
Striker Kelvin Kuek said: " I am responsible for scoring goals and I am as unhappy as anyone else that we are not scoring enough goals, it is not Chua's fault as we are creating alot of chances and I am determined to break my scoring drought in the next few games. "
Defender Ching Weng adds: " It is the whole team effort and we are to blame for the results, not the manager. We really need to put those chances away and to keep clean sheets next time."
As the season goes into a 2 weeks break for CNY with Team Prodigy rooted at the bottom of the table, manager Chua certainly has alot of food for thoughts (minus the Bak Kwa) for his team over the next few games.
Meanwhile, Singaporepools has opened the odds of the new possible candidates for manager of Prodigy if Chua gets the sack eventually by the board.
1. Ken Goh - 1.55
2. Ching Weng - 2.10
3. Deng Weiyi - 3.50
4. Kuek Sukiang - 5.50
5. Tan Kiat Hui - 10.30
6. Referee Dave - 100.60
7. Field Caretaker Uncle - 1000.70
