Time is running out for Chua. Rumour has it that Chua will step down at the end of season after 2 seasons in charge. Prodigy's bright start to the campaign is now a distant memory as now the odds for them to remain in division 8 have risen after last Sun defeat to leaders Benedetto Utd.
With the promotion race effectively down to four teams, Prodigy still has an outside chance to claim 2nd place which will give them automatic promotion. However, the most likely scenario will be to finish 3rd and to go into a promotion playoff just like last season. The worst case scenario will be to finish fourth which was unimaginable at the start of the season after such a bright start.
However, Chua insists that the players are still focused on finishing the season on the high despite last Sun setback. He said " We played really well with only 10 men last match and this gives me hope that we can still finish among the top 3. The players have shown the hunger to win and they are really united in the dressing room despite the setback. "
" It hurts to lose in such a manner, but well, I am sure they will bounce back in the next game against Killer Whales. No disrepect to Killer Whales and Vincitore, but I feel we must beat them if we are to have any lingering hopes of promotion."
With 2nd striker Mick suspended following his red card, most of the scoring burden will be on top striker James who has kept up his amazing record of scoring in every game he has played in.
Chua praised James for his contribution in the Benedetto match: " He is a speed demon and an absolute menace to the opposition defences, he nearly equalised for us despite playing upfront alone if not for the crossbar, I certainly hope he will be firing on all cylinders again this Sun. "
Meanwhile, Singaporepools has opened the odds for the new gaffer candidates should Chua step down at the end of the season. Below are the odds:
1) Ken 1.50
2) Mick 2.30
3) Yiyang 3.40
4) Shawn 4.70
