Opta Stats Report

Following James's freak injury last Sunday which will rule him out for 2 months, the scoring burden and title hopes will be on the other striking candidates. They need to fill in the massive gap left by his absence for the last 6 games if Prodigy is to remain in 1st place. ESPzen Opta Stats give a breakdown of the potential candidates below:

Name: Mick Tan
All time league goals: 24
Finishing: 9/10
Technique: 10/10
Speed: 7/10
Strength: 8/10
Stamina: 8/10
Workrate: 7/10

Analysis: The team's all time league goal scorer since his transfer from Cairnhill FC in Season 1; Mick still represents Prodigy's best hope of scoring in James's absence and his burden will no doubt increase in future. High commitment level has also seen the lanky target man played in most of the team matches. However, his languid style still brings out frustration from his supporters sometimes.

Name: Hu Hongyao
All time league goals: 2
Finishing: 8/10
Technique: 8/10
Speed: 8/10
Strength: 9/10
Stamina: 8/10
Workrate: 9/10

Analysis: Powerfully built striker who just joined Prodigy this season; Hongyao has played in the midfield initially and only recently, he has spent more time in his preferred striking role. However, he has started to show glimpses of his potential and his 2 goals are indicative of more to come as he also has a goal incorrectly chalked off for offside against Jazz FC. With James's prolonged absence, he should be starting upfront with Mick.

Name: Brandon Chung
All time league goals: 4
Finishing: 8/10
Technique: 8/10
Speed: 9/10
Strength: 7/10
Stamina: 8/10
Workrate: 8/10

Analysis: The Nakata lookalike has played more on the flanks for Prodigy than upfront. However, he can also played striker for the team when needed and his main asset is his pace which was the factor that convinced MM Chua to bid for his services when he was playing for the commando team. He plays on the shoulder of the last defender and thus, has a tendency to stray into offside positions during attack. Could be given more playing time upfront because of James's injury.

Name: Lee Wei Thian
All time league goals: 0
Finishing: 7/10
Technique: 8/10
Speed: 8/10
Strength:7/10
Stamina:8/10
Workrate:7/10

Analysis: Just joined this season but have limited playing time to prove his worth because of tight competition upfront. Scored a brilliant goal by rounding the keeper during the friendly against Commandos last year in his trial match. Earned a penalty for Prodigy during the match against Suave Fusion and James's injury might be his big break to cement a starting position.

Name: Ken Goh
All time league goals: 2
Finishing: 10/10
Technique: 10/10
Speed: 10/10
Strength: 10/10
Stamina: 10/10
Workrate: 10/10

Analysis: Prodigy's jack of all trade, master of none =) player manager Ken O'Shea is one of the team's most commited player having served the club for a good 10 years. Has played upfront before for Prodigy in Season 1 during Kelvin Kuek's absence and also in some friendlies. Excellent off the ball runs had presented him several goal scoring chances before, but his suspected finishing could well be his achilles' heel.
