The medical report for Team Prodigy's first choice left back, Ching Weng, is out.
A preliminary scan has confirmed that the speedy, well built, versatile, left and right legged and the ever loyal left back will be ruled out for a minimum of 2 weeks. Chan will focus on doing gym work and light workout over the course of next 2 weeks to regain fitness as soon as possible. A possible stay at Bukit Timah Hill to gain extra oxygen at higher altitude to heal the twisted ankle is also being arranged. Chan is no stranger to injuries, having a recurrence of the injury which effectively ruled him out of the entire of 2007.
This news could not come at a worse time as Team Prodigy is seeking to reverse its fortune. However, given the depth of the team and with 2nd choice left back, Deng Weiyi, waiting in the wings enthusiastically every week, the effects of his absence are minimised. Deng (rubbing his hands in absolute glee), is a product of the youth academy of team prodigy and is raring to step on to the big stage.
It is thought that the manager is also considering giving Ken a run in at leftback, in a bid to boost the midfielder's belief after the latter's confidence took a battering at the weekend. The honest player admitted frankly after the match that he had a sub-par performance at the right flank against Legends, not being able to find joy against the quick footed opposing fullbacks. Unnamed sources stated that Ken was spotted at a pub the following night, drinking his sorrows out and also mumbling about a possible career switch to being a professional poker player, a sport which requires more mental facilities rather than physical. When asked to comment, Manager Chua reinforced his support for the player:
"As long as I am still in charged of the club, Ken will have a place in the side. It was just one match and I will do all I can to restore his confidence, even if this means playing him at fullback."
